Our clients often don’t realize what we are trying to get out of the conversations we have with them. We ask questions to get people to think deeper: to look at changes that they need to make in their lives. We want clients to look deeper and celebrate the positives. There is so much more to happiness than what is going on with your bank account. There is so much more in life than what’s going on financially. There is what you are learning, your social life, your spiritual life, or your family life, etc. There are so many different things that a person should consider when taking a big picture look at their life.
There are two questions that I will often ask myself in the morning, and we like to ask our clients as well. First of all, we ask, “What is working in your life?”, and then ask them to make a list of things they are happy about, pleased by, or accomplishments. What is working in your life? It’s important to have something to celebrate, something to be able to fix your eyes on and say that you have accomplished.
Then, we like ask the question, “What is not working in your life?” Now, don’t put together an exhaustive list. Just a list of one or two big things because this provides us some direction. What should we be working on? What are some of the things that our organization, our team, can help you with? Our goal is to get you from point A to point B. Oftentimes, we don’t know what that is unless we know what is going on in your life that is not working. Sometimes, it’s not even financial problems. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and we like to say that we are people that are “connected”. In fact, I sometimes will smile and say we have a Little Black Book. We know people who know how to fix things that are not working, whatever they may be.
So, instead of spending your time fixated on things that are not working in your life, it’s important that you have a Positive focus. First, look at the good things that you have accomplished. Start by making a long list of things that you are happy about, things that are working. Our goal is to then help you with the things that are not working.
We’d love to celebrate what is working with you, and if you would like some assistance with what is not working, then perhaps it's time to schedule your Financialoscopy®.
